The Advisory Teaching Service (ATS)

Enhance your home school experience with Calvert's signature service

ATS offers personalized instructional support at a great value. Eight times through the year, the Advisory Teacher evaluates a set of tests—one in each subject area—to assess your child’s academic performance and offer individual guidance and encouragement. While you, the Home Teacher, are the most important influence on your child, ATS adds the following elements:

  • A personal letter from your Advisory Teacher sent with each set of corrected tests

  • An evaluation of your child’s work in all subjects in relation to a peer group, giving detailed feedback on composition, mechanics, and processing skills

  • Motivation for your child to do his or her best work to earn positive reinforcement from the Advisory Teacher

  • A partner to reinforce the observations and instructional priorities that you, the Home Teacher, have set for your child

  • A certificate of completion and a transcript (available upon request)

How ATS Works

ATS By Grade Level

We are proud to introduce even more valuable online resources in 2007 to help with review and test preparation:

New for 2007/2008! Curriculum Checkpoints
Curriculum Checkpoints are daily online assessments designed to give you immediate feedback on your student's retention of the main lesson points.

Grammar Review Sessions
Included in the Calvert Academic versions of Fourth through Eighth Grades, prerecorded review sessions for grammar every ten lessons help you ensure that your student understands the concepts and is prepared for the ATS test. Presented by a Calvert Teacher, these review lessons are invaluable for staying on track.

 Online Practice Tests
Included in Third through Eighth Grades, the online practice tests help further prepare your student for the ATS test. They feature questions from our core curriculum Calvert Test Series and are automatically graded online, allowing you to determine areas needing more review.

Online Grade Book
Monitor your student’s achievement through the ATS online grade book. ATS test results are posted after the test is returned for easy tracking. The grade book is accessible through your ATS Online Portal.

New for 2007/2008! Read-Aloud ATS
Now you have the option of having your Advisory Teacher listen to your First, Second, or Third Grade student read using the Read-Aloud ATS feature. Using Calvert-provided technology, simply record your early reader on your computer (a microphone is required). Your Advisory Teacher will listen to your child reading an assigned passage and provide feedback on fluency, pronunciation, and expression.

New for 2007/2008! ATS Online for Calvert Interactive Students
Save postage, paper, and time using ATS Online. Available exclusively as part of the Calvert Interactive program, ATS Online gives your student the ability to submit his or her ATS tests electronically and receive results faster than by using the traditional mail service. Your Advisory Teacher still reviews all parts of the test and provides the same constructive feedback.
