Second Grade

Our Second Grade curriculum fully immerses your students in the world of
independent reading to propel them as learners. Using phonics storybooks and reading anthologies, you can help your students reinforce word analysis techniques and develop comprehension skills.

Simultaneously, your students will begin writing dictated words and sentences, and learning the rules of punctuation. They will start expressing their own ideas in original compositions.

Our math course will develop skills from the earlier grades by helping
your students place numbers in real-world situations such as money, time, and temperature. Complex addition and subtraction also are introduced this year.

Your students’ integrated curriculum will include technology lessons in typing, spreadsheets, and Internet skills such as e-mail, as well as science units on heat,
light, forces, properties of rocks, and the hearts and lungs. Social studies topics will include old world figures, geography, and maps.
