The Discoveries in Science Core Kit (suitable for Grades K-8) combines science equipment with hands-on activities designed to develop scientific thinking and encourage curiosity in students. Your budding scientists will explore the scientific method, learn to form a hypothesis, conduct an experiment, monitor the variables, and record and interpret data.

The activities in this course are divided into four general areas of study: earth science, physical science, chemistry, and life science. Some activities span several of these topics. There are activities suitable for a basic level of knowledge, as well as for a more advanced student. You select activities based on your students' interest and abilities.

The materials in the kit align with the Calvert science curriculum as well as science experiments found in other science courses. The kit includes: Lesson Manual with activities, goggles, 1/2 meter stick, hand lens, spring scale, graduated cylinder, funnel, dropper, magnets, two thermometers (F/C), modeling clay, rock and mineral kit, streak plate, and a colorful, laminated storage box.
