music

Discoveries in Music introduces students to the joys of many kinds of music. Guided by the Lesson Manual, students learn about the various instrument families; study basic music theory concepts, such as rhythm, beat, and tempo; and are introduced to important composers like Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Copeland. Children also will learn some basic skills in playing string, percussion, and wind instruments by using the included lap harp, triangle, and flutophone.

Incorporating the Calvert family favorite, Melody Lane, the course presents 32 programs (available on DVD or VHS). Each lesson is hosted by the Mayor of Melody Lane along with some of his Calvert friends. The Discoveries in Music course will inspire a lifelong love of music.
