About CalvertCalvert School provides a time-tested and complete homeschool curriculum with two goals in mind: To inspire the best in your child and to make you the best Home Teacher possible.
We plan detailed, daily lessons in all major subjects, and our lessons are designed to appeal to different learning styles. Our lessons are written in our private Day School, using the best textbooks and workbooks available. Our program is proven and assures you no gaps in instruction. In addition to our lessons, we support your home teaching with our Placement Testing, Education Counselors, and Advisory Teaching Service.
Through over 100 years of serving homeschooling families, we have always valued the input we receive from our families. Many of the improvements in our program have come from parent suggestions. We welcome your comments by email, or by phone at either 888-487-4652 or 410-785-3400. Dear Family, Welcome to Calvert School!
This year, the Calvert curriculum development team has been hard at work on a new full-day Kindergarten course and a First Grade Spelling course—each with a strong emphasis on developing your young reader. Calvert Math has been newly revised for Fifth through Eighth Grades to encourage greater critical thinking skills in your older student. The Calvert Eighth Grade course features updates to the History and Geography lessons, which bring historical accounts to life. Brand new for this year, Calvert is providing a full manual of learning strategies in Eighth Grade to help prepare your child for his or her high school studies.
Calvert has also introduced a suite of technology innovations to help all grade levels—from allowing beginning readers in the lower grade to read to their Advisory Teacher online, to facilitating live student interaction and collaborative learning in the upper grades.
The Advisory Teaching Service is more beneficial than ever through the introduction of a variety of online resources designed to enhance instruction and better prepare your child for his or her ATS tests.
For middle school students, Calvert introduces technical advancements that also enhance instruction and make learning fun! All students enrolled in Sixth through Eighth Grades will receive Calvert Online Tutorials—brief, topical, online videos that explain key concepts—embedded within a provided Online Lesson Manual. Middle school students also have the option of enrolling in Calvert Interactive—our new live, virtual classroom for Sixth through Eighth Grade students. Classes are led by a Calvert Online Instructor and allow improved flexibility in pacing and a greater amount of student interaction than any online program we have featured before.
All of these programs are made possible by the personal attention provided by the entire Calvert team. Calvert Education Counselors, Placement Specialists, and Client Service Representatives assist families throughout the year to ensure that their 21st Century Calvert experience does not sacrifice that good “old-fashioned” caring support that has made Calvert School the choice of home schooling families for over a century.
