Networking With Calvert Families in Your State!
The Calvert Networking Program allows us to connect families interested in homeschooling with Calvert families in their area currently using our courses. Networking is a great way for families considering the use of Calvert materials to discuss with a family how the program works and to possibly inspect course materials.
To learn more or to help prospective families learn more about Calvert, visit the Family Networking page.
Homeschool Support Groups
Homeschool support groups in your state are an excellent way to gain more assistance and guidance in your homeschooling endeavors. A regional support group fosters a wonderful sense on community among homeschooling families and allows for more opportunities to exchange ideas, plan group outings, and share in the overall experience of homeschooling! While Calvert supports the development of community between homeschool families, this listing does not constitute affiliation between Calvert School and the groups represented above.

North Star Independent Homeschoolers
We are families of homeschoolers in Interior Alaska's North Star Borough who homeschool our children without taking any government monies or oversight to do so. This is a great and legal option for all homeschooling families in Alaska!
As independent homeschoolers, we - Dads and Moms - assume complete responsibility for educating our children. This is unlike Alaska's charter school programs (IDEA, Raven, etc.), in which this responsibility is shared between taxpayers, the charter system, its employees, and the parents.

The Imaginarium
Picture a place where children's faces light up the second they enter, where "oohs" and "ahhs" are commonplace and where exciting, interactive learning is a cornerstone. Imagine such a place right here in Anchorage. Imagine the Imaginarium!
The Imaginarium, Alaska's only hands-on Science Discovery Center, is designed as a place where people can have fun learning about science by actually doing science.
In recent years, The Imaginarium has really come into its own offering beautiful, professionally produced permanent exhibits as well as innovative traveling exhibits, not only to the children of Anchorage, but to the entire state of Alaska through our Outreach program. Serving over 50,000 children and adults annually, the Imaginarium is a unique destination for local schoolchildren, preschoolers, birthday parties and visitors alike.
Located in downtown Anchorage, the Imaginarium resembles a living laboratory where you can stand inside a bubble, ponder the magnitude of the universe in a planetarium, discover ocean life in a marine touch tank, observe and touch exotic reptiles, or lean the principles of physics while playing with specialized toys.
Whatever the project or activity, you can be sure that is designed to change children's attitudes about science by letting them ask questions and look for their own answers. When it comes to creative, hands-on exhibits, demonstrations and curricula, The Imaginarium wins hands down!
