Outreach at a Glance

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Dear Parents,

With the holiday season approaching quickly, we wanted to let you know some details about Calvert's Community Outreach Fall Program. For general information about Calvert's Community Outreach, please visit the Community Outreach section of the day school website, as well as the Community Outreach Blog.

As you can see in the calendar and chart below, there will be three drives in the fall: the UNICEF Drive (The United Nations Children's Fund) in October, a Thanksgiving Drive in November, and the Holiday Drive in December. The drives have been organized into a three step process including preparation, action, and reflection - one week dedicated to each.  Please look over the timetable for our projects. It is NOT MANDATORY that all students participate in the collection part of the drive. Making donations is purely optional; however, students will engage in preparation and reflection activities in the classroom and we encourage your support at home.

To make your child's experience most meaningful, you may want to consider taking your child shopping with you, for they may feel more empathetic when making personal selections, especially if it is with their own earnings.

**There will also be a year long, school-wide penny drive to benefit Paul's Place. We ask that students who wish to participate only bring in pennies. Thanks!

We thank you for your participation in this school wide effort.

Sincerely,

Community Outreach Committee
