Calvert assists you in the enrollment process. Our Placement Services staff ensures proper student placement for academic success. Resource authorization and student account set up are managed by our Technology Support team.

Our placement services allow us to assist you in appropriately placing your students in our academic program. We evaluate both concept knowledge as well as ability to accurately apply skills.

In math, we do not just evaluate whether your student arrives at the correct answer; we analyze how he or she arrived at the answer, which provides us a better assessment of individual math skills. We ask for a writing sample, which allows us to evaluate writing mechanics, grammar, vocabulary and spelling levels, sentence structure, content, and organization skills.

Our experienced Placement staff advises you in making informed curriculum decisions for your students. We believe in the importance of the proper placement, and therefore, we include it in our program tuition fees. We encourage all students using Calvert's program to use our placement testing in Grades 4-8 and our primary assessment tools in lower grades.

Our placement recommendation is not solely based on the results of a few objective questions. Our Placement Services staff evaluates your whole child through consideration of the following factors:

• Age
• Current grade
• Time taken to write the composition
• Knowledge of capitalization and punctuation rules
• Parent-provided information about the child’s reading and study habits, writing experience, and family information
  

Important Note: A placement test is required when enrolling in the Advisory Teaching Service for the first time in Fourth Grade and above, and when enrolling in Calvert Interactive featuring ATS.
