Course Overview
Seventh Grade students will continue to build strong grammar and composition skills through descriptive writing. They also will discover the development of the modern world through history courses covering the fall of Rome to the Enlightenment. The spelling program further incorporates grammar.
Seventh Grade Calvert Math emphasizes problem-solving steps. Your child will begin learning advanced concepts such as variables, formulas, fractions, statistics and pre-algebra.
The science program will delve deeper into the life and physical sciences and introduce your child to the characteristics of living things, sound, light, motion, forces, and energy. He or she will learn about networks, Web researching and validation, desktop publishing, and databases in our comprehensive technology program.
In addition to continuing courses in reading and poetry, your student will study geographic subjects such as thematic maps and the Eastern hemisphere. The art history course continues with the third volume of A Child’s History of Art:
Architecture, and your child will apply these lessons by designing his or her own structures in the art unit.
